Working in Independent Schools
Teachers are drawn to work in independent schools because of the autonomy they have together with members of their departments to craft courses and instruction exactly as they think best, the support they receive from administrators and colleagues, and the high quality of the relationships they are able to have with students. For these reasons teachers in independent schools have a high level of satisfaction and a high level of responsibility in shaping the culture of a school and the content of its curriculum. Independent school teachers work very hard but stay in the field because the personal and professional rewards are correspondingly great. |
